Anonymous asked: are you going to the beatles: the lost concert" movie when it comes out next month?

What? No. I don’t listen to the Beatles.

I sense spam.

We successfully repair the AA guns and the Collector ship is forced to retreat. Unfortunately, the Collectors had already loaded up more than half the colonists before we even got here.

Mom: Ah well. Let’s go hit up a bar.

Me: Hey look, it’s your boyfriend!

Mom: How about that.

Me: He…

I’ve been looking forward to this since she first decided Kaidan was her boyfriend XD

a polite notice to fandom

Hey guys.

So fandom is fun. No really, it’s great. Getting together with a group of people who share the same interest as you, and being creative about it and having a good time? I’m all for that. I’ve been in and out of fandom for years, I know the ups and downs, and I know how good the good gets and how bad the drama goes.

But please, I implore you, to stay grounded.

Your fandom may be the most important thing in the world to you. And good for you! You have something you love. But don’t lose sight of reality. Your fandom is not the pinnacle of all creation. It is not something to worship. And it definitely isn’t serious business.

When I see things about holding silences for Harry Potter, it makes my blood boil. My grandparents fought in World War II. Most of our grandparents did, actually. And yet here you are, 70 years later, and you think it’s appropriate to hold silences for a fictional series? No. That’s not what silences are for.

The two minute silence is to remember the fallen. The people who laid down their lives for us. The people who were murdered, tortured and enslaved. To remind us that the liberties we have today are not things we should take for granted.

So go ahead, enjoy Harry Potter. Get sorted into your favourite house, write fanfiction about your escapades at Hogwarts. But don’t be that person who crosses the line into thinking that a fictional universe merits the same gesture of respect as a war which killed millions.

Please take the time to do this.

No.

you know what we do minutes of silence for?

The fucking Holocaust. World War II. Things that actually merit such a serious gesture. Do you people really not get the connotations of holding a silence for something as inconsequential as Harry Potter? Fuck you.

Signed, a Potterhead who actually has some respect.
